The exchange rate of the rupiah against the US dollar experienced a slight strengthening throughout the year 2025. According to records from Bank Indonesia (BI), the Garuda currency appreciated by 0.34 percent throughout the first semester of 2025. The exchange rate of the rupiah as of June 30, 2025, strengthened by 0.34 percent (ptp) compared to the end of the previous month, said BI Governor Perry Warjiyo at the press conference of the BI Governors Meeting (RDG) in July 2025, which was held online on Wednesday (16/7/2025).

Quoting BI Jisdor, the position of the rupiah against the US dollar is IDR 16,231 per US dollar. Meanwhile, the figure at the beginning of the year (January 2, 2025) was at IDR 16,236 per US dollar. Perry explained that the strengthening of the rupiah exchange rate occurs in line with the support of BI stability policies, as well as the continued influx of foreign capital. Recent developments up to mid July 2025 (up to July 15, 2025) show that the Rupiah remains stable amid rising global uncertainties, he continued.In general, Perry explained that the rupiah development is relatively stable compared to the currencies of Indonesia main trading partner countries and against the currencies of developed countries outside of the US dollar. This continues to support Indonesia export competitiveness. The development of this exchange rate is supported by the consistency of BI stabilization policies and the continued influx of foreign capital, especially into government securities instruments, as well as the conversion of foreign exchange to rupiah by exporters following the implementation of strengthened policies.
